UN General Assembly Debate on the necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the United States of America against Cuba

Thank you President,
The humanitarian situation in Cuba is affecting access to food, clean water, health care and other essential services.
Australia consistently supports open trade and investment, and Australia continues to support an end of the embargo against Cuba.
Australia reiterates that it does not endorse the policies of Cuba. We have seen widespread reports of Cuba’s failure to comply with international human rights standards, including the ongoing restrictions on the freedom of expression and association affecting everyday Cubans.
We again urge the Cuban Government to respect the rights of all its population and call for the release of all political prisoners and those who are arbitrarily detained.
